Both rank among the best. Hendrix was more influential, more critically acclaimed. Hendrix was like from another planet where you are born with a guitar as an extension of your body. Neither Jimi nor Eddie studied music theory or even read music. They are different types of guitarists - Jimi being of a blues style, Eddie being more hard rock. Jimi had greater raw motion but less discipline. Eddie plays the notes faster - maybe due to the style of music. Now days, there are faster guitarists, but none with more soul than Jimi. Both great - but my vote is Hendrix.

on the Dick Cavet coach, Jimi strengthen into on for a complete week. while Dick asked him the way it felt to be the wonderful guitar participant alive, he spoke back "i do no longer understand approximately that, you will possibly would desire to ask Phil Kheage. (SP)? i believe what made him so often occurring strengthen into his intensity and fully out of it excessive form of taking part in. As a prior poster suggested, a great form of what's performed in the present day has some roots in Hendrix's musical sort. while he first became "observed", he strengthen into fidgeting with a band called The Isley Brothers. His sort strengthen into so eccentric, they desperate they might do extra sensible without him. He strengthen into between the originals to checklist a riff, then play it backwards, and then checklist over it. (0.33 Stone From The solar is a stable occasion). it extremely is many of the justifications he has this style of severe score, and between us older guitarist he's between the benchmarks!

Jimi all the way. His solos were amazing & always spot on, live or in the studio. Eddie tended to sacrifice quality for speed.

In all fairness - different styles & different times, but I choose Hendrix, by far...
- His extraordinary control of his feedback, required a unique dexterity, that remains unequaled.
- Don't get me wrong - I think Eddie is amazing, and is extremely polished and technically brilliant, but so are about 50 others in Rock history.
- and his 6th finger tapping, was not revolutionary, just the first time that the mainstream witnessed it
-- The first large-scale experimenter with 10-finger tapping, that was actually recorded, was Steve Hackett's "Return of the Giant Hogweed" (1971) IMHO.

No.
and also I don't think they can be compared.... different kind of music and feeling..
But even though it is not a popular oppinion.. I prefer Van Halen a million times. Very few Hendrix songs I like.

Hendrix had the ability to render sinew from bone and expand the soul. I think that ability is hard to find. Once more with feeling!!
