Imagine, if you can, trying to push out a mushroom-headed 10 pound bowling ball from between your legs.....and taking several hours to do it.

imagine you really have to go to the bathroom bad, and it's a workout to do so. but then when it's over there is a release just like when you have to go to the bathroom, except there is a beautiful baby instead of body waste.

I have given birth 3 times. I think the best way to describe childbirth is to think of a desert. Think of yourself walking though a hot desert and all you see are sand dunes. You keep going & for miles and miles all you see is sand. You are hot, tired and thirsty. You look and all you see is more and more sand dunes, just when you think you can not walk any further a wave of relaxing relief comes over you and the desert is gone.
The moment the baby is born every ounce of pain disappears instantly. I think childbirth is more exhausting than painful. Is it painful? yes, is it horribly painful? no.
One bright thought, I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured and the pain from that far surpassed childbirth.

Some other Moms don't like to hear my labor and delivery story, because they had it tough. For me, it was a piece of cake. Around 2 am I was a little crampy. I thought that it was gas from the Taco Bell bean burrito I had for dinner. That is why I call my daughter my little burrito. I called my doctor and he said to go to the hospital just in case. On the way, my water broke. I had the "gas pains" until about 10 am. They wheeled me into the delivery room. The doctor said to push and I did -- once. She shot out like a cannon ball. I am trying to get pregnant now. I hope the next one is that easy.

I've given birth twice. Once vaginally and once by c-section. The births were 14 years apart. My first vaginal delivery was more painful. The episitomy (spelling) hurt like hell. Fouteen years later, I gave birth again by c-section and with all the medications it was a piece of cake. In fact, I wish I would have had the c-section for the first. My labor pains were pretty intense for hours for the first one, but for the second the labor was intense for an hour. It really wasn't that bad. Happy New Year. 2D

It's not really pain as you might know it: think of it as incredibly powerful, intense, building pressure. Can be a bit frightening at times, overwhelming. Can be ok if just are patient with the whole process, knowing will end at some point in time and will have a precious life/child:)

I think the joy and anticipation of giving birth to a special creation, is wonderful, despite the pain and dealing with being up late and at odd hours for feedings.. it's so great.. I wish ,I'd had six children,,but I was given three, which is and still remains a joy ,even though they are grown and have given me grand children.
