I know it's a crazy superstition, but it hasn't worked for me yet. LOL

The black-eyed peas are suppose to bring you good luck, and the greens are supposed to help you get more CA$H! :)

That's a southern tradition, right? Up here, especially if you grew up in a home of German descent, it's cabbage. My mom made corned beef and cabbage every New Year's. Some people eat Rueben's, or some variation of saurkraut, or cole slaw, at least. I'm making cooked cabbage, sans corned beef. I don't care for meat, and don't need the calories. I do love the cabbage, although it hasn't worked yet, either!
Since my fiance is a carnivore (aren't all men?) I'm making a small ham to appease him. Huge Idaho baking potatoes and rolls will round out the meal. Pretty simple, but it'll be good.
You must be a dyed-in-the-wool southerner, Mike! You got the drawl, too? I'm a fool for a southern accent!

I decided to give up the greens and peas this year. No matter how much I eat, I still need more money than I get.

I like black-eyed peas and greens, but I never heard of them being a special thing on New Years. Ya learn somethin' new every day, eh?
