I do a lot of work in photoshop and store a lot of files.
I'll continue to use my main computer for this, but I also want to buy a laptop to take back and forth to the studio , and if I am travelling (won't be for a while).

I know I want 200+G HDD, but I need to know what other things I should look out for especially in screens etc.
I do not want a Mac.

I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks, Lizzie

Go for soemthing with a lot of ram and the fastest core 2 duo(intel) or athlon 64 x2(AMD) you can afford. Also, getting a seperate video card that does not leech off the RAM is great as well(256MB minimum)

As with most things, the more the better.

Right now I'm running a custom speced Dell Desktop with Photoshop CS2 and it runs pretty darn fast compared to what I used to have.

My specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core4400+(2.31Ghz)
2GB Ram(I can upgrade to 4GB)
Windows Vista(I recommend 2GB min to start if you get VIsta, it is a resource HOG!)
GeForce GT8600 256MB
200GB SATA hard drives with a 500GB external drive and dual layer DVD burner
15-in-1 card reader.

I know it's not a laptop, but you can get a laptop with all these same features.

I like Dell and HP laptops.

I have a Tosahiba laptop, and while it's great for everything, it's not great for Photoshop. Photoshop version 7 is the last one I could run on it. Admitedly, it is an older Pentium 4 laptop.

Screen size probably wont make that much of a difference. What you really want to look for in this is a lot of ram, and a decent video card (chipset). Video editing is pretty resource intensive stuff. You want a good processor, a healthy amount of ram (at least 2 gigs) and decent video (256 meg minimum, 512 is better)
