1991 WAS THE FIRST YEAR THE WINNER GOT THE WORLD TITLE SHOT. 1992 THE WINNER GOT THE TITLE SINCE THE TITLE WAS VACATED DUE TO TAKER AND HOGANS CONTROVERSIAL ENDINGS IN THERE MATCHES.

1993 was the year, I remember that announcement, I was a big fan back than. In 1992, the winner of the Royal Rumble was awarded the world title (Ric Flair). Jim Duggan and John Studd won '88 and '89, they never got a title shot. Hogan, the world champion, won Rumble '90. The following year, Hogan also won, but it was just a coincidence that he wrestled in the Main Event of WrestleMania. '93 Yokozuna won and immediatly after he had the confrontation with Bret Hart in locker room. And so you see, WrestleMania IX: Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna.
