Well, Domain Names are cheap. $10 / year. Hosting on the other hand (some place to have storage and use that domain name) is a different issue. It can run anywhere from a few dollars per month to several hundred. All depends on how much space and how much bandwidth your site needs.

In most cases hosting is billed monthly so you can change plans as needed. Your domain name stays the same and costs the same regardless!
If you can't cough up the few dollars for a name, you can't pay a hosting fee monthly at all!

If you want to buy a domain name and pay it monthly then it might be possible if you do this as part of a web hosting package. The ones where you get a domain name included for free and then you pay the web hosting package monthly.

Otherwise, if you want to buy a domain name on it's own then you have to pay a yearly fee and renew it every year at whatever the rate or cost is of that domain name. That's if you want to buy a domain name as it is without anything else.

To buying a domain name is cheap anyway, I don't see why anyone would want to pay monthly for it?

A domain is purchased for one year, but you can get a .info domain for as little as $1.89 at http://nkuw.com

They only cost a few bucks (mine is $10 per year)... check out godaddy.com and other similar sites. Noone says you have to use the domain name... even if you only need it short term, just cough up the $10 and get it for the year.
