I never really asked them but I always seemed to be able to charm the pants off the women just by introducing myself and the men always seemed to think I had a great sense of humor . Can't understand why ? Maybe one of your answerer's could explain it .

Actually, if linguists in both parts of the world are correct, the British are the ones with the accents. In some senses, of course, "accent" is just a point of view, but linguists who research such things now believe that Americans speak in a way that is closer to what both groups spoke before the U.S. became independent than the British do. It's believed that it's because in the early days of the U.S., there was not as much formal education as our British cousins, and so people pronounced things as they heard them rather than as they might due to spellings. People in the southern U.S. were particularly influenced pronunciation-wise by Scottish immigrants, accounting for much of what we now call a "southern" accent.

I'm not American and I'm not in America, but I work in a call center for an American company. So all my calls come from the US. And I really love the American accent especially the Eastern and Southern. Especially the latter coz its soo sexy - especially if its a Southern guy
