I think nerves are a part of the excitement. Just remember that no one else knows how nervous you are, so try to stay cool and as calm as you can. Remember everyone else there is thinking about how they are going to do and the people in the audience are concentrating on their own loved one, not you. It's ok to have the jitters, most people get them.

Keep focused on what you are there to do and do your best to enjoy the moment.

All the best of success!

You might want to think about taking a mild MILD tranquilizer beforehand, something over the counter preferably.I know that feeling and it's horrible. The tightness in your throat, the unding in your chest, etc. It's more common that you think but,if you do decided to take something, take ONLY the reccomended dosage, okay?
Good Luck,Cookie!

Why would you look like a fool? Do you think others look like fools? they are the same as you; and so guess what? They are just people and nothing to be afraid of.

Good luck. You will do fine.

Change your thoughts.
Visualize all those butterflies as spelling words and they are there in your body to come to your aid when you need them.
Nervous and excited are the same thing! Think about how fun and exciting it is for you to be at this spelling bee.

For a quick energy medicine tip: Take your hand and put it up on your chest up above your heart right in the center. Then breathe slowly and deeply right into your hand. Keep your hand there and breathing deeply as long as you need.

And - even if you look like a fool - it will not kill you. It will strengthen that courageous part of you. Good Luck

Focus on your act, lines to the point where you know you are good and don't worry about the audience...

You're thinking about it too much and phycing yourself out.
I've got pretty bad stage fright too.
You won't look like a fool if you just take deep breaths.

In through your nose, hold it, then out through you mouth.
you'll feel so much better. just keep doing that over and over whenever you feel the nerves comming.

This way you can focus on spelling and not so much on the dumb stupid crowd!

Good Luck!
