It's probably that he's using an audible to switch plays before the snap... When I played football we use several states and cities as our audibles... and when the QB called one we new what play we were switching to and we ran it... But, we did not use Omaha, we used 'Hawaii', 'Nebraska', 'Ohio', 'Florida', and 'Texas'... We did it when a blitz was coming, or something didn't look right with how the D was lining up... I think I remember Hawaii being a screen to the RB...

Omaha means two things, depending on context. First, Omaha is most used to indicate that the snap is on the next sound. Omaha can also be used to say that the play is being run to the opposite side. Peyton also uses Omaha as part of his hard count to try to get a defense to either jump or show their shell before the snap.

Well it's really hard to determine what it means.

The obvious answer is that it's some sort of audible. It could be an audible for switching the entire play, it may be an audible to alter the route of a specific receiver, it may be an audible for the O-Line to shift their protection to a certain direction.

It may also be a "key". I haven't watched the Giants alot this year so I don't really know their offense, but sometimes teams will lineup in a specific formation, and the QB will call out a "key", and they'll shift into a different formation. This is designed to make the defense line up with one formation, then force them to quickly adjust to a new formation.

It also may mean nothing, and it's a decoy. If you have an offense that audibles alot, teams and coaches will eventually start clueing into your audibles, so "Omaha" may be something they do to throw off the other team.

Another theory would be that it's meaning could change week from week. One week it may be an audible for a specific play, but knowing they're being scouted, they may use it the next week but have it mean nothing. The idea there would be that the defense would hear it, assume they know what play is coming next, and possibly have the offense catch them out of position.

It could also be part of his cadence.

Clear enough now? lol. Just watch Peyton, the guy audibles for like 20 seconds before he actually snaps the ball!
