The way over-rated SEC is about to go 4-0, and we havent arent even on New Years Day yet. The SEC has 6 games on New Years Eve and New years Day and the NC Game on the 7th. If we shut out the Big 10 tommorow and on the 7th you wont see any Big 10 partisans for about 8 months. We have bowl tie-ins the Big 10 can only dream about. The Pac 10 cant even dream about our Bowl tie-ins and fan followings.
All of the Northern Schools can keep playing Lacross, because we will rule football forever...
Peace Out.

The SEC has a large amount of high school talent to recruit from and having a long tradition of winning seasons for most of the conference allows for good recruiting. For the most part the SEC seems to depend more on speed than size in the style of football, which is attractive to many skill players on both offense and defense. It is also well known that there are more players active in the NFL at any given time from the SEC than any other conference which makes them have a wider recruiting base.
As far as the loyalty of the fans, I think we can all see that each conference has its fans, especially the older more established conferences like the SEC, Big 10, and the old Southwest Conference Teams of the Big 12. As far as attendence, and stadium size, there are several large stadiums in both the Big 10 and the SEC. For the 2006 statistics of the 10 teams with the highest game attendence 3 are from the Big 10, and 5 are from the SEC, the Big 12 provides 1, and the Pac 10 the last. In the Big 10 you have Michigan with 107,501 seats in the home stadium, and only 25,555 students, in a city of 114,024 people. OSU has 102, 329 seats in the stadium and 38,479 students in a city of 733,203 people. Texas had the 10th largest of the top 10 schools in attendence their stadium holds 85,123 and has approximately 52,000 students in a metropolitan area of 1.5 million people. Now to show you who will travel to see a game, Alabama has the 4th largest stadium in the SEC and the 7th largest on campus stadium in the US, the stadium holds 92,140+ and has been sold out for every game since 1988, the school has an enrollment of 19,037 students and is the smallest school in the SEC, it is in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with a population of 83,122 people. Unless everyone in town and every single student is at the game, then the stadium must get filled with people traveling from somewhere.

Bryan, you better check your (lack of ) facts. The academic standards in the SEC equal or better those of the Big 10. Look them up, compare them, and then try to explain why a Big 10 guy is so ignorant of the facts. How about this article from the Plain Dealer:
Ohio State football: Buckeyes near bottom of Big Ten in graduation rates
Posted by Doug Lesmerises October 03, 2007 17:00PM
The NCAA released its graduation rates today, and Ohio State ranks near of the bottom of the Big Ten in both football and men's basketball.
LSU has 25 seniors this year on the team. LSU has 25 seniors graduating this year; 100%.
Don't let the facts stop you from blithering and continuing to make a fool of yourself.

For the second consecutive year, and the third out of the last five, the SEC has a team in the BCS Championship Game.
Please be aware that this comes AFTER the SEC Championship Game. The Big Ten is too chicken-sh!t to
add a team, and play a championship game. Ditto for the Pac-10, and they don't even need to add a team. Nine years
out of ten USC runs the table, and they don't want to chance
losing a game late and screwing with their chance to play for the BCS.
:-o
BRYAN : Learn something about football. Virginia Tech is in the ACC, not the SEC. VaTech backing out of a home-and-home with Wisconsin means nothing to the SEC.
BRYAN (again) : I have yet to see anywhere here that Va. Tech was mentioned other than by you.

the SEC schools are known for football much like the pac-10 and ACC are known for basketball. the SEC schools are able to recruit very well and get all their local talents locked up. the only school that gets other recruits from other states is USC and now maybe notre dame under weiss.
the closes conference to the SEC is the Pac-10 but really, the SEC is far and away the best conference. and im a pac-10 fan.

You act like they're undefeated against all other conferences.
The PAC 10 and Big Ten are right up there.

They are 6-8 against the big ten in bowl games over the last 5 years, and we all know the big ten should be in 1aa.
Chayna, the three biggest stadiums are in big ten country. Maybe the SEC is the best, maybe they aren't, but it isn't because of fan base.
To the guy tooting Kentucky's horn, they beat a team that suspended THIRTY FIVE PLAYERS by a whooping 7 points.
Don't get me wrong, I think the SEC plays some great football, but even if they are the best, it isn't by much.
So far the auburn clemson game is the only real bowl game the SEC has played, Josh. They beat a team that suspended 35 players, and beat an SEC team earlier in the year, central florida, which is the 4th best team in central florida, and 6-6 we rape our kicker colorado. It looks like they might win the Auburn game, and that is the first legit win.
LSUTigers sums it up as far as SEC fans go. The SEC has tie ins the big ten could only dream about? Second place and third place in the SEC play..... second place and third place in the big ten. Why is 9-3 Illini in a BCS bowl game against mighty USC? Because of the big ten tie in. The big ten travels better than any conference out there, period. On the field you can debate who is best, and the SEC has an arguement, but as far as travels, no one touches the big ten. Go to the LSU OSU game in LSU's back yard, and see how many buckeye fans are there. As long as LSU doesn't steal tickets like they did in 2003, you will see a 55-45 split.
