How do you record one channel while watching another? Every time I record and get ready to switch channels, it keeps making me stop recording. Any help you can give would be great. Thanks!

Did you order the DVR from DirecTV? And was it installed by a technician (since some prefer to do self-install and just have the equipment shipped)? Because if it was, then he should have installed two lines for you to have dual tuning capability on your recorder. If he didn't, you can call Customer Service at 1-800-3473288 or 1-800-5315000 to have a technician come out and redo the lines on your DVR. Please reiterate that you shouldn't be charged since it isn't a custom installation but a part of the standard professional installation offered when you ordered the DVR.

By the way, if you bought/leased your DVR from an authorized retailer, then you may want to call their Customer Service Department regarding your concern.

You can't record one program and watch another on a dish, unless you have a dual tuner, like Dish network has, and then you have to have a second TV, watch one, and tape from the other.
