My mechanic hubby says that you should just drive it the way you normally drive, but to make sure change your oil regularly (every 10,000 miles) & keep it tuned up. Do a tune-up every second oil change.

Take it easy and drive like a normal person. Make sure after a couple thousand miles to have all you fluids changed. Even the rear diff oil. You would be surprised. Keeping up the maintenance is the big thing.

YES! for your sake, oil change it eveery 2.5k miles (ensure engine will last FOREVER, my autoshop teacher has a 91 F-150 with 300k miles on it and engine is in FANTASTIC condition you just gotta change the oil every 2.5k miles before it gets all black and nasty) dont accelerate hard and absolutely do not let the RPM's go above 4k RPM. keep it below 70 mph and avoid potholes etc. do everything i said except the oil changes (that should be for the life of the car) for the 1st 1000 miles

First off Congratulations on your purchase! Most owners recommend a slow ride break in... no hard acceleration, keep it within 55mph for the first 100-300 miles or so... then have it brought back to the dealer to have any leak problems corrected. Grease in bearings that sit in a factory can settle and you want to make sure they get an even coat before you start spinning then quickly. Like oil in your engine, you never want to have metal grinding, always keep it well oiled, and you shouldn't have any problems!

Most mfrs had a recommended 600 mile (1000km) break in period. Basically it is just driving nice. No jack rabbiting between lights. go easy on the brakes, gentle throttle, let the trans (if auto) shift when it wants, or manual shift at reasonable rpm (lower range, but no lugging) for each gear.

Just be nice to it for the first little bit of driving and after that drive it how you will normally. It's just to get the motor and transmission to wear in a little before you abuse it (use it hard).

Well the best way to break in a new truck is to drive it normally. Do not exceed 60 mph for the first 500 miles. Also if it is a brand new vehicle make sure to check the lugs on the tires after 500 miles also. Other than that just keep up on the regular maintenance.

just drive it like your going to drive it 2 or 3 years from now, these new vehicles really don't need broken in like the old cars used to.
