The idea that tax cuts increase tax revenue is completely false. Even Jim Nussle (the OMB director in the Bush administration) agrees (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/14/AR2007111402085.html)
Edward P. Lazear, chairman of the president’s Council of Economic Advisers, has said the same thing: “I certainly would not claim that tax cuts pay for themselves.”
Cutting taxes while generating record spending seems to be Republican economic policy. It's causing record deficits which will be greatly harmful in the long run.
If Republicans want soldiers to make sacrifices of life and limb in war, they should be willing to pay more taxes to fund the war. I guess sacrifice is for poor people.

Because there are TWO ways to balance a budget:
1) Keep raising taxes until you have more money than expenditures.
2) Keep cutting spending until you have more money than expenditures.
As a classical conservative who wants a limited Federal government, I want the latter. I am a member of the lower-middle class...not poor but far from rich. I just want to keep more of the money I make and that will allow me to buy m y OWN healthcare and to support charitable causes of my own choosing, rather than poorly run Government entitlement programs whose beneficiaries are primarily the bureacrats who work to administer them.

Because the federal government already confiscates more of our EARNINGS than it is morally entitled to or needs. The fact that even one person gets an income theft refund is proof of that. The "earmarks" added to every spending bill and the unconstitutional programs funded by the money the federal govenrm, net steasl from WORKING AMERICANS is further proof that the federal government already takes more than it needs to do its assigned duties.

Any expert will tell you cutting taxes spurs economic growth. That growth causes tax revenue to the government to increase.

We have proven that the best way to increase government revenues is to lower tax rates.
JFK spent a long time convincing Congress to cut taxes. Kennedy argued that the increase in economic activity sparked by a tax cut would more than offset the lower tax rate.
And He was right. Revenues Grew after Kennedy's tax cuts.
Ronald Reagan Cut taxes. George Bush, before joining his campaign as the VP candidate, called Reagan's ideas "voodoo economics". But Reagan was also right. Tax revenues set records after his tax cuts. (Congress spent like crazy however--$4 to every $1 in taxes collected... but that's another tale.)
George W Bush passed the biggest tax cuts in history. Again, the treasury reports record tax receipts. Again Congress wants to spend more than it collects.
Conservatives aren't against ALL taxes. We simply feel that there are ways to increase the government "take" without punishing people for working hard and making a little extra income...
BTW, I am conservative, and I am lower middle class, as far as imcome is concerned...

If you keep more of your money then you spend more, so if you do not tax people as much they will spend it on things they want.
Where the dems way is give us ALL your money and we will spend it like we want.
And keep in mind the dems in office have millions, so if they do not feel they pay enough then write a check. Feel free.

Why isn't EVERYBODY against any tax hike? Does anybody, anywhere think that our government shows any degree of fiscal responsibility?
If those clowns in Washington didn't waste so much money, closed all the tax loopholes, and stopped wasting so much, we'd all be getting rebates.
Republicans make it part of their platform to appeal to their base, and Democrats, well, their Democrats.
