We started feeding our 3.5 month son baby food for the first time, and notice that, even with a bib on, our son manages to get food every where. My wife has tried to clean it in the washer, but it doesn't seem to get it out. Can anyone give us any advise on what to use to get rid of the stains before we loose all of his clothing to stains? Or can anyone give us any ideas how to feed him without getting food all over his clothes?

When our 9 month old gets food on her bibs and clothes then we take it right off and rinse it out in cold water. this usually gets the food out before it has time to actually set in as a stain.

I would highly recommend trying it good luck!

We feed my 8 month old in nothing but a diaper. There's some foods like carrots, and prunes that stain no matter what you do, so that is what we finally have resorted to. Now all we have to do is wipe her down really well after she eats, put on a clean diaper and redress her...so much easier

After 2 little ones, I've found that Oxy Clean works best. Soak the clothing in a small sink filled with cold water and a bit of Oxy clean (powder) for a couple of hours. I usually spray some spray & wash on prior to soaking and try to work it in by hand first. After stain is out, launder with your reg. baby detergent. I have tried so many other things, and this has worked best for us. Good luck!

spray totally toddler on the stains ASAP, let sit for a few minutes, then throw them in the wash.

I use a Shout Stick on all of our stains. You can put it on the stains to pre-treat, and then throw them in the hamper until you are ready to wash. I rarely have a problem with stains----even stubborn formula stains.

Another good stain remover is Totally Toddler. This even worked at getting lipstick out of a white shirt.

The bibs with the pockets do help to decrease the mess. Otherwise, when I feed my kids something really messy or with the potential to stain, (orange baby foods, tomato sauce, pizza...) I just remove the shirt!

The only then thing I can say is to let it soak in warm water and detergent and every now and then rub it together and that should help loosen the stain and also help get it out .

I hope this helps you because I have a 2 year old and I know how you feel.

Use a baby wipe to clean the stain. Then get a powder laundry detergent and make a paste with it and put it on the stain. This works well with washing in a warm water wash. You can also try the bibs made of plastic that have a pocket on them. This is what I use.
