Great stuff, eh? For variety, put a dash of salt on it -- the salt really makes the sweetness sing.
Watermelon is grown all over the world at all times, and shipped to markets when out of season (pretty pricey), but depending upon where you live and the demand in your area, you might only be able to obtain it in summer.
Are there any greenhouse, hothouse, hydroponic, or aeroponic growers in your area? Watermelons will do nicely in these growing conditions, so you might want to see if your can persuade a grower to try some.
There's a "yellow" variety that is very sweet, and produces a small melon, and these can be easily grown in your garden or large pots on your terrace.

Anyone living nearing the equator should be able to
grow - get - eat melons anytime their heart desires.
I'm so green with envy. Can you imagine 24/7/365?

Yes you can unfortunately. Watermelon only tastes good through the summer months however. An October watermelon is not good and the texture is tough as well. Any watermelon past the last week in August is not worth the money in my opinion.

Watermelon is only available in the summertime, generally. However there is a very rare fruit called a quatermelon. It is similar to a watermelon except its like 10 times better. You can order fresh Burmese quatermelon here:
http://www.burmaquater.com
Please allow 2 weeks for shipping to the United States as the quatermelons are heavy and must be handled with care.

It matters where you live. If it's sunny all year around then yes. But if you get a winter season then no you can't keep it all year around.

If you can find it, it is soo much better in the summer anyway.
Since it is summer on the other side of the planet, a lot of fruits grow down there and are shipped over here where it is winter and you can buy them.
Watermelons are more expensive though in winter, and i also don't see them as plentiful as other fruits that are shipped over.
you can usually find small ones though, in the area with the produce that is in smaller amounts.

You can buy it in the grocery store. It'll start getting quite exspensive though. Like 6.00 for a melon. But if you have the money, go for it!
