This year in middle school, I lost my best friend. We're both in 7th grade, and we've been BEST FRIENDS since 1st grade. We basically outgrew eachother, I was physically, emotionally, and mentally maturing and she was still physically, emotionally, and mentally a little girl. Since tonight is New Year's Eve, I was thinking back on this year and remembering how hard it was to leave my best friend, and in the hallways now all we do is glance at eachother, and occasionally smile. Sometimes I wonder, is it my fault that we aren't friends anymore? Should I be living with regrets over this? I miss her more then ever, and she will ALWAYS be my best friend forever.

I think that if this person is your friend, then you should treat her that way. Sometimes we do mature at different rates, but that doesn't mean we have to stop being friends with the person. Just imagine how she feels? I think if you miss this person you should just get in touch with them and let them know. How could that be wrong?
Go on and call your friend.

Yes, you regretted the day you broke your friendship apart. I think that you should go back to her, tell her you are sorry and that you would be EXTREMELY happy if you would be able to be bestfriends again.

How old are you? And what makes you so sure that she won't catch up?

Get over it already. You still see each other and smile at each other, so all isn't lost.

God, teenagers are so fecking DRAMATIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just because you out grew her, you can still be friends. Call her and talk for awhile.Maybe go to a movie together. Friends are hard to find. Don't burn your bridges.

Obviously she is not your best friend and never will be since you are above her now. How can she ALWAYS be your best friend if you give her nothing more than a glance in the hallway? I find it quite amusing that you reached such a high level of womanhood in the 7th grade. She is actually better off not having you as a friend. She may have been your best friend, but you were obviously not hers.

Should you feel guilty? No, I think you should go about your superficial little way.
