I need a silent and light vacuum?

Question

I need a light vacuum that is not heavy, but just a few pounds, and it has to be quiet. It also can't go over $200.

It might not be as powerful as your looking for, but I swear by the Casabella Compact Carpet Sweeper. It's hand powered, so no loud motor and weighs about a pound. It's awesome for quick cleaning, but you will have to use a regular vacuum every now and then to get the edges.

Well, you could always take a rocket ship, and have full access to the vacuum of space, but, it is kind of expensive. ;)

Seriously, though, motors needed to run vacuum cleaners are noisy. The only thing that can quiet them is to cover them with a ton of plastic and/or metal that would either weigh a ton or be a potential fire hazard.

Of course, there are canister-style and in-home central vacuum cleaners, both of which have the motor at a distance, more or less, but they are still noisy.

Considering how long it takes to vacuum the average 3 bedroom home floor (30 minutes for a 2000 sq ft home), a standard upright vacuum cleaner, for well under $100 at virtually any department store, will do what you want without being overly noisy.
