I am considering buying this van. It has 153,000 miles runs well and burns a little oil.
What is the life expectancy of the 360 V8 engine?
What do you think this van is worth?

360 were realitivively comparitive to the 318's the only differnce was the balancing one was internal the other external.

Life expectancy , depends on how well the vehicle is maintained.

value somewhere around
Excellent $1,825
Good $1,575
Fair $1,125

Seriously the oil burning at only 153,000 miles is not good. Bad valves or piston rings. Usually ...smoke on the uphill?.. rings, smoke on the down.. valves. Go on the lowside of the BB. The one ton parts and brakes are a good thing though. Big working van. Might consider putting some higher gears in the axle to save your next engine some wear and tear, and up your mileage?.

the oil burning will probably get worst and the van is probably worth almost nothing

Depending on cost versus Life left in it,,,and obviously with care (that's a Duh) You should probably expect no less than another 50 K, even smoking.

At $1500 (example) that would equate to 3 cents a mile, plus oil, etc.

I run all my vehicles to death, and all never under 150 K miles, no matter the BRAND name.
