in case you have in actuality by no potential carried out something like this till now, only pass in and act such as you're somewhat sorry for doing this. Be very truthful with the decide as to why you probably did it. tell the decide which you talked to human beings approximately what you probably did and now understand how irrelevant and incorrect it replaced into to take out your frustrations and anger on a shop, quite than only accepting that your case replaced into stolen. The decide will then see this extra as an act of misdirected frustration quite than somebody who replaced into stealing only to get some thing for loose. i think of in case you do what I propose, he assist you off very gentle. solid success. and of direction, I do wish you employ this as basically one among those many classes of life. It additionally would not injury to request a gathering with the shop supervisor to make an apology and clarify which you recognize what you probably did and that it replaced into stupid. i might additionally tell the administrative why you probably did it. And tell the administrative which you will not ask her or him to drop the case, yet you would be very appreciative in the event that they may well be keen to ask the decide to allow you to make it as much as Walmart in some way. this might a minimum of make the shop supervisor experience that throughout all probability you're common and keen to amend your wrongs and desire to do what's perfect. you will then be proposing a picture to the shop supervisor that throughout all probability stands different than for different shoplifters and he or she or he might even desperate to drop the fees. yet do not ask for that. i used to be a shop supervisor for a great branch shop group and caught numerous shoplifters, and this might have inspired me if any of them had come to me to make an apology and ask how they could make issues precise, with out inquiring for me to drop the fees. i might nicely have long gone forward and dropped them if I felt the guy replaced into incredibly common.

Based on what you say, you DID get off with a warning. You do NOT mention Police, which means you were NOT placed under arrest.
In OH you CAN be sentenced to 6 months in jail AND fined $1000. for the FIRST offense if the value of the merchandise is UNDER $300.

The retailer was under no obligation to only warn you. However you do not mention Police so you may have only got an warning. Expect Civil Demand (its state law) should be around $200.00 and is unrelated to any court fines

First off, when did everyone get so judgmental? Everyone screws up, and she didn't ask this question to get fingerwags and shame-on-you's from you people.
I don't think anyone can ever make you sign something. If that were true, your signature wouldn't mean anything. But since you did sign it I don't think you can take it back now.
If you weren't arrested I think it's over. I don't think anyone will come and get you now, but I suppose the store could sue you. I doubt they will, but I also didn't think they would go to the trouble of filling out paperwork and all that for twelve bucks. I thought in this situation they would confront you and embarrass you in the store, make you pay for the items, and then ask you to never return.
I think you should be fine. Don't go back to that store, though.

Usually not much especially for a first time offense. Wait about a year and there will be all new people working in the store anyways.

You should be setting an example for your grandchildren. Instead of thinking how you may of affected them you are worried about what your punishment should be. Shame on you. Poor you hun? You better.Take your punishment and be a better example in the future.

If she makes an official report, first you get an ibond promising to show for a court date. if that's the case, plead guilty pay the cost and do probation (it's your first offense).
If she keeps it "in house", then the store is as far as it goes. I would wait a bit before returning and be ready for a strip search.
mistakes happen. they will get over it and so will you.

You'll probably get off with just a warning. Not that you should have been doing this anyway. If you were kid I'd say give you a kick in the *** and send you on your way.

Honestly, intent is intent. You did steal. It doesn't matter if it was a car or a pencil. It is theft. It doesn't matter you were sorry. I'm sure everyone they catch is sorry. Sorry they were caught.
When you steal, even $11.97 worth of property, it drives the price of everything else up. So people like me, who doesn't steal, is now paying for the items you stole.
I'm sorry you are a disabled senior citizen. I realize you wanted to look nice, but I'd definitely have more sympathy if you were stealing food because you were destitute. I'm sure one of your friends would have loaned you a nail file and hair pins.
