Torture does not, by and large, work. The military and CIA no longer espouse it. The person being tortured will tell you what you want to hear in order to make it stop. You don't get the truth.

When they moved prisoners from secret CIA prisons to Gitmo, President Bush was asked point blank about the interrogation techniques used. He tried to duck the question, but it was pretty clear that they drug them. I'm sure he didn't want to say what they use, etc. One could feasibly build up an immunity if one knew what was being used. I suspect they have discovered some new truth serum.

All depends on the meaning of torture.

Military can inject HIV to those captured and then get them medicine. This is not torture but creating demand and helping.

Don't worry about U.S. soldiers. If muslim killed them, those muslim would be infected with AIDS. In fact, gay soldiers were forced to go to frontlines. (see 60 Minutes)

I BELIEVE THE QUESTION HAS BEEN SETTLED. ANYTHING GOES EXCEPT FORCING A DETAINE TO LISTEN TO AND OR VIEW AT THE SAME TIME THE COMPLETE COLLLECTED SPEECHES,PRESS CONFERENCES,AND INTERVIEWS OF GEORGE BUSH AND CONDI RICE. THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMAN RIGHTS HAS RULED THAT THIS NOT ONLY CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT, BUT WELL EXCEEDS IT.

Torture is not allowed in the U.S. military. On the other hand, if any of our soldiers are captured, they are tortured and killed.
