If you were at the shopping center and you had two seperate items and you knew they were priced separately but when the clerk picked them up they were together and she just rang up one item, would you bring it to her attention that she has made a mistake? If so , why? If not , why not?

I'm not completely sure of what I would do. If I would not say anything I know it would bother me for a while.

I wouldn't tell her. Because I have allow income and every penny counts. Especially when your trying to get a house. It is her mistake not yours.

Yes I would, and yes I have.

I try to be as honest as possible...those people in retail have it bad enough...they already are getting screwed over, with long hours and low pay.

I would bring it to her attention. I just think that if you go around being dishonest and taking things from others that it will eventually happen to you. Besides if you knowingly stay silent then it's just as bad as sticking something in your pocket and trying to sneak out with it.

Since the clerk is probably responsible for the merchandise which she sells and inventory tickets are either scanned or taken from the price tag, a check would show an item wasn't paid. Traced to the clerk might put her job in jeopardy. Honesty usually pays in peace of mind, doing the right thing where some one else is involved. Why would one want to put his reputation on the line for a clerk's mistake.

In the past, I wouldn't have. Then I met my fiance, who would return a dollar lying in the parking lot to the store manager. He taught me the importance of being honest, and for that, I'm eternally grateful :)

Yes, I would bring it to her attention, because it's the right thing to do. Plus I've worked in enough retail to know that the inventory tracking can be a PITA when it doesn't reconcile.
