Does the imagination of movies make life more interesting than it really is?

All life really consist of is holding a job and working to survive.

Or the adventure of looking for a job, staying out of jail, overcoming addiction or financial challenges, personal loss, even life-threatening injury or illness. Life runs the gambit from the highs to the lows. I think movies give people a glimpse of what happens outside the middle of the bell curve.

Surely movies are generally about escapism and getting away from real life for a couple of hours. Real life is far more interesting and diverse, Where do you think they get the ideas for the films?
