There is only 11 teams in the Big Ten. Even if the Big Ten did have 12 teams, I doubt that they would have two divisions. Whats the point? Conference championship games are pointless, and were only instituted by the Big 12 and SEC to gain more revenue.

Because the Big 10 refuses to add a 12th team so they don't have to play a conference championship. That way they can play one less competitive game and still qualify for the bowls.
You will find Big 10 people making all kinds of excuses. Fact is,
It might knock out their one ranked team.
So they avoid the two best teams in the conference playing each other.
How else could OSU get to the big game this year.

Because the big ten sucks and they are scared to play a championship. The SEC is the best ever.
Just beating SEC fans to the punch. The real reason is because the big ten only has 11 teams and they need 12. Also, the two biggest teams in the big ten(michigan and OSU) like having their game the last game of the season, and don't want to play a championship game after it. Last but not least, big ten teams dont' like to play a game after thanksgiving, for several reasons, including the weather.

Several reasons....the Big Ten would need to add one more team for the minimum 12 teams required for divisions & citing tradition of having certain rivalry games each year, which may be impossible in division play, with a conference championship game.

NCAA rules state that conferences need at least 12 teams to be able to split them into 2 divisions.
