I don't like sugar in most non dessert foods and have tried angus hamburgers in the past and it has that same taste to it. I also notice that the patty has a carmelized texture to it after cooked.

What is the deal? Why does it taste so funny?

Yes, definitely. Most, if not all, recipes call for a tiny pinch of sugar. Hope this helps.

In some countries in Asia manufacturers add sugar to hot dogs and in one country you cannot buy hotdogs without this added sugar . They also load catsup , mayonaise and even the bun with the stuff . What country , you ask .... Philippines !

For McDonald's, there are some grams of sugar in "burgers" listed in the nutritional facts at their web site.

you're referring to mcdonald's angus burgers?

mcdonalds puts sugar solution in their french fries in order to give them a nice brown carmelized color and flavor. i don't know about their hamburgers.

They can't sell meat that has had stuff added to it.

When you grill meat, the brown "crust" comes from the fats breaking down into sugars, which then "caramelize"

The sweetness you are noticing may come from the caramelization, or the higher fat content in the Angus beef.

But no one is adding sugar to a grilled burger. eew.

No, no sugar in the beef. If it was there, they'd tell you.

if they put sugar or anything else in it they have to list it on the package label.
