To stop going high on your backhandspring, you push back more instead of pushing up. Push back like your sitting in a chair. Hope that helps.

You can try the drills here: http://geocities.com/aescougarcheer/basics.htm#td
In particular do the one where you lie down with your hands over your head and someone puts tape down at your feet, belly button, and hands. Stand on the foot tape, sit, fall, and jump back to put your hands down on the belly button tape, snap up and down to land on the hands tape.
For the first few times have someone spot you because this is going to be new to you. After many times of doing this you will have trained your muscle memory into always doing your BHS long like this. If you try it without the tape and go back to going to high and undercutting, then you need to work out with the tape some more.
Good luck!

Picture yourself how you're doing it wrong, (as if watching from somebody else's point of view).
Now Picture yourself doing it perfectly, and try to work that into your routine. (For example, if you know you're jumping too high, change they way you start off so that you don't go so high)...
As you can see, I'm not a gym expert but this method works for nearly everything.

Work on your back bends and kick over. This should keep you closer to the ground while flipping.

When you're doing your roundoff, just make sure you land with your feet perfectly together so that you don't start as high. It will take some getting used to, but it makes it a lot easier once you get used to it.
