All babies cry. All mothers need a break. I suggest getting somebody else to watch the baby for even just 15 minutes a day just so you can relax and be alone. You could also get a babysitter once a week and get out of the house. It will be good for you.
Your baby's instincts are telling him that he needs to be with you all the time, which is hard when you want to do your normal private business without him. I would put him down in a safe place (crib, bassinet, playpen, baby swing, etc) when you have to do your business or you just get too overwhelmed. It's perfectly okay to put the baby down for a few minutes when you're overwhelmed or you have to go to the bathroom.
If your baby cries more than normal, meaning about 3 hours or more without being consolable, you should talk to your baby's pediatrician.
Good luck. Get some rest and a break from watching the baby. All moms need that for their sanity.

They are just sad because they can't see you. My daughter is the same way. Now that she is 9 months old and walking around it is worse because she comes to the bathroom door and cries and bangs on the door too!

Okay, how far from the bathroom is he? Does he see you go in there? Could you move him to another part of the house while you are in there? I hate to say this but get use to it. I had 4 kids and once you get in there all, you know what breaks loose. Now they are older and still there is no peace. They still have my bowels in an uproar!

My son was like this. I just took him with me. No big deal. He's just scared when you disappear from his sight, he doesn't understand yet that you will be right back. I never saw the need to make my kids scared if they didn't need to be. They outgrow it eventually and then you can have peace.

How old is your baby? Why not take him with you? If he cries a lot and likes to be held, you could try wearing him in a sling. He gets his need for mommy met and the benefit is you get your hands free. Meet his needs now and you'll reap the benefits later on. My 22 month old DD never liked being put down or apart from me when she was very little. So I wore her in a hotsling and when she outgrew it, I got an Ergo. Today, she is the most outgoing confident toddler. Getting her to stay next to me now is sometimes a mission! It doesn't help when you're in the thick of it, but your child will only be young once and before long he won't need you so much.
Also, if he cries when you are out of his sight, he may have separation anxiety. Just throwing this out there in case your child is over 6 months. If you have to leave him, it may help if you tell him, "Mommy will be right back" and when you come back, remind him,"Mommy came back!" Never sneak away as it makes separation anxiety worse.

Babies cry, its what they do. And who lied and told you 2 times a day is normal? A baby that cries only twice a day has something wrong with it.
Take baby with you to the bathroom. Then he wont cry. Thats what Ive always done.

It's okay... they can cry for a minute (as long as they are put safely in the crib or playpen while you are in there). If you plan to be in there for more than 10 minutes, depending on how old they are.. bring them in there in their carrier or put them in their exersaucer, etc. Moms have to go to the bathroom too!

Can you bring him in with you?
I kept a bouncy seat in the bathroom when my baby was an infant.
