My husband and I and 17 month old son are going to be staying in Gettysburg from the 2-5 of Jan 08. I know that there is a limited amount of things we can do, but does anyone have any suggestions of things we can do and of great places to eat. thanks

I've been to Gettysburg for the annual re-enactments and during the winter. Plan to spend 3-4 hours at the visitor center and tours around the battlefields. You can drive/walk on your own, but it's obviously colder during the winter.

Downtown historical Gettysburg is very quaint, but you can spend a few hours checking out the shops, get artifacts from the civil war, eat lunch, etc.

Dress warmly.

The Boyd's Bear place would probably interest your son the most.

If you have one of those baby backpacks, it's fun to hike the battlefield. Bonus: no crowds! Also, there are several ghost tours that sound like fun.

Ski Liberty is a half-hour way, and offers babysitting for ages 6 months and up. It doesn't look like snow tubing has started, and your son would have to be 2 for the kiddie snow tubing.

As you go from south to north on Business Route 15, the restaurants get more and more yuppified. But a well-behaved child shouldn't have any problems at the restaurants at town square. If he's not well-behaved, that's what the restaurants on 30 East are for.

http://www.gettysburg.travel/index.asp has an office near the town centersquare. You might want to go in and ask for suggestions.

Make sure you go to the cyclarama on the battleground. It is free and informative and fun. And while you are there go over to Cemetary ridge and count the ghosts.......LOL
