Citric acids come from fruits like oranges and lemons, so they taste sour. In general, ALL acids taste sour. Bases taste bitter.

C6H8O7 or H3C6H5O7. It is very sour. It is a carbohydrate. It has a low pH. Found commonly in citrus fruits and present with Vitamin C. It has a sour taste and is sometimes used in cooking and referred to as "sour salt". It is also present in alka-seltzer along with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to produce fizzing. That is commonly used in many things. I know this person who gets a whole bunch of citric acid and compacts it with baking soda in the size of cannonballs and drops them into his pool. It is pretty cool

The chemical formula is H3C6H5O7.
It tastes sour - its the main acid in citrus fruits (hence the name citric) such as lemons and oranges.
Lemon juice is a concentrated form of citric acid. So are vitamin C tablets (the cheap ones from a drug store).
