AND I am almost sober as I answer you! As long as you eat black eyed peas on New Year's Eve or New Years day, you should be ok, according to Southern Law. Of course, if you are from up North somewhere, the rules change. Yankees just always change things, that's why most Southerners have a problem with them. If where you live is anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon line, my rules don't apply to you. AND the rules change the farther North you go. If that explanation doesn't satisfy you, you are too far North for me to understand. GOOD LUCK & BLESSINGS

I have also heard of this before. I think that it was during the good times when our company still has a Mess Hall, and we were all taking chicken dinner on Christmas Day. Someone came in with "shrimps" on his tray, and laughed at all of us with the daily fare of chicken. Appears he cooked the shrimps himself and only came for the rice from the mess. And he tells of this superstition he did not want to cross with. By some prophetic stroke of ill fortune, we lost the mess hall not long after that. They gave us cash allowances instead, which is not even enough for a decent chicken meal a day ! I could have strung that guy's neck! * edit: New Year's Day, rather. New Year, Christmas, what's the difference? We'd both not be enjoying them altogether while we're here in Saudi!

Hell yes! If you eat chicken on new years you will never find out why the chicken crossed the road!

If you believe it will... then you might have bad luck. It probably won't be the chicken's fault, though. I'd blame the booze.

of course you are. No, the only bad luck is if you don't cook it enough - you'll spend all of New Year's Day in the bathrrrom throwing up.

Hope you aren't hungover tomorrow.
