i sat in front of our washing machine and tried to figure it out, but all it did was soak the clothes and just spin. How is the spinning actually cleaning and taking out like poop stains and stuff?

It is better than the gentle cycle for clothes. If you have really dirty clothes that are rugged, you need to use a machine with an aggitator, top loader. If your clothes are not a rugged cloth, front loaders do clean and will not wear out your clothes as fast as a top loader will.

Hi there, we in the UK have Front Loading Washing Machines & Tumble Dryers - they are excellent in as much that you do use far less water, electricity & clothes are always clean and basically dry when taken out of the washer. You can purchase either Washing Powder that go in the top drawer or Capsules that go inside of the machine before you put your clothing in, thus saves mess & waste. Mine has broken down today after 10yrs of use so I am now going to be looking for a new one myself but I do know that it will be a Front Loader. Also, I have just had a thought, if you were disabled and had one of those Dogs that help the Disabled it is nothing for them to put in or take out clothes from a Front Loader - How would they cope with a Top Loading Machine? Just a thought.

It's the friction caused by the clothes as they rotate in the drum that, combined with the water and detergent make a pretty good team

They clean very well without agitation and supposedly are easier on your clothes because of that. It is the detergent that actually releases stains, so if you still have skid marks -- use wet wipes and change to a better brand of detergent.

There should have been a cycle where the clothes were tumbled in the water and detergent before the spin cycle. If not you may have selected delicates or woolens instead of regular wash.

I have used both and the front loaders get clothes cleaner. My next washer will be a front loader again.

i think that instead of just swishing clothes around in water, they force that water to run through clothes... i also heard that these kind of washing machines wash better

the wet clothes are carried to the top of the drum and by gravity fall down to the bottom repeatedly. this action requires less water and with the detergent cleans the clothes just as well as the top-loaders.
