i renewed my ip address by going to the command promp and putting in ipconfig renew or whatever but my computer is so slow now i scaned it for spyware and viruses and there is nothing

reset you modem and router by unplugging the power to them for about 3 minutes then plugging them back in then restart your pc and try connecting again

You are not giving enough info. to help. Need to know if you have dialup, ADSL, T1, etc. etc.
Suggest that you ctc. your IP engineer for support as their servers can be overloaded or you are not getting the speed that you are paying for.

You should firstly contact the ISP to find if THEY are having a problem at their end

Why type of Internet service do you have? Broadband via cable modem, DSL or something else?
