There isnt a simple answer to this question. You cant have a gorilla and a lion lift weights to see who weighs more, and have them push something. Then there is the fact that their strenght would be shown in a different way.
Gorillas, being in the same general shape as humans, will be percieved as being stronger than lions because of what an angry gorilla could do. For example, a gorilla would be able to rip a tree out of the ground, where a lion could not. However, a lion could hunt down,say, a water buffalo, and kill it, where a gorilla would have difficulty doing so. Their strenght is displayed in different ways, so it would be hard to give a definative answer on which one is stronger.
There is also the fact that a gorillas strenght would be applied in the upper body, mainly the arms, and how much the gorilla could lift. A lion's strenght is spread out over his legs, and can not lift objects.
So, there really isnt a correct answer for ur question. As others would say, you are comparing apples to oranges. I personally do not like the saying, but believe that it is accurate in this case.

A gorilla is most definitely stronger than a lion. His arms are probably stronger than that lions whole body. And in a fight, one solid punch from a gorilla would crack that lions skull. Any animal but a blue whale would get hurt by one of their punches. Just the fact that a gorillas grip could crush a lion makes me wonder why this is a question

they the two weigh with regard to a similar around 500 pounds.. the lion has a greater suitable chew claws and aggression..the gorilla is bodily greater suitable yet i think of the lion could win the gorilla could probable merely run away on sight

Just to clarify another's post, it was a tiger that injured and killed a zoo patron. Also, bananas are from South America. Gorillas eat mostly plant matter with a small amount of fruit and invertebrates. No bananas though.
Gorillas weight 350 to 500 pounds.Lions weight in within the same range. For me it is difficult to say with no background in kinetics.

Lions maybe would be stronger but a gorilla would be far smarter, so if they'd battle obviously the lion win, but in a video game the gorilla would pwn him. :P
