i need to know if it needs to be modded or if you can play them un-modded

of course YOU CAN, you just need to know how to do it....you cant just burn the game like you burn a music cd with nero........ if you download the right torrent then YES....for some reason, some machines dont need to be modded, others need to. i have a slim one and didnt need to and play burned game for the last 8 months.....the stores aint getting my money anymore!!!!!!

U need the Swap Magic Disc and slide card or a mod chip, I prefer Swap Magic Less riskier

Yes your PS2 needs to be modded and it voids any warranties if you do. Also keep in mind that modding your PS2 also means Sony will not repair it ever it it becomes damaged.
It's also illegal to play burned PS2 games !

First, you need to mod it. Second, it's illegal. And third, you have to buy a built in mod chip to play burnt games on ur ps2. The good thing is, a burnt game cost about $1.00 to $10.00 only!!!
