Israel's claim to the Holy Land rests on the existence of God. If it was not God's will that they possessed Canaan, the nations can reproach them as mere conquering brigands."
Herman Wouk, Jewish novelist
"This is ... what some of my teachers taught me when I was a child: after our Temple was destroyed and we were banished from our Land, the gentiles came into our heritage and defiled it. Wild Arabs laid the land waste ... When our first pioneers came to the land to rebuild and be rebuilt by it and redeem it from its desolation, they found an abandoned wasteland."amos oz
Jews settled in Palestine, and they were not expelled. They bought land, sometimes through straw men, sometimes by bribes, for Turkish officialdom was even more corrupt than the Russian. Houses were built in evasion of the law. Between baksheesh [bribes] and an infinite variety of subterfuges, the first little colonies were created." [WEIZMAN, C., 1949,

I propose that the land of "Israel" be chop up in 0.5. The northern 0.5 could be Palestine and the southern 0.5 Israel. in the middle occupying Jerusalem could be the hot U.N. HQ with a hall that divides those lands from the Mediterranean to the purple Sea. Stationed there would desire to be 3 hundred,000 guy rapid reaction tension able to delivering a severe smack right down to everyone in the area that acts out of line. This answer creates peace in the area and gets the U.N. out of long island . Solomonisc I admit yet wasn't he between the wonderful Semites ever?

The simple answer:
After WW II Isreal was created for the displaced and persecuted Jewish population. Exactly why they were put into that powder keg is anybody's guess.
The Palestinians are a fictional nation of evil and spiteful creatures that for no reason at all claim the infertile, desert land belongs to them. There's just no basis for it.

God, Himself, pointed out the lay of the land to Abraham. He gave much more than what Israel's boundaries are today. Ishmael's descendants claim it for the same reason he and his mother were sent away in the beginning--jealousy. "In Isaac shall thy seed be blessed." Ishmael got the oil.

You know, Israel has actually given up most of that land; all they are fighting for is not to be blown up.
For that, they are fighting hard. People are more important than land.

The Old Testament talks about the land where Israel now exists as being given to the Jews by God for all time. After they were driven away in the Middle Ages, the Palestinians moved in, and claim rights to the land due to centuries of occupation. After World War II, the British, who controlled that area, gave the land to Israel. Everybody's right. Tough to sort out.
