In my humble opinion the national id has nothing to do with illegals. The government -Republicans and Democrats-want to know and control every single person in the US. This id will not be voluntary it will be mandatory.

It's for the same reason why most areas now require you to present your driver's liscense or state ID when voting...poor people, uneducated people are unlikely to get one....therefore they will be unlikely to vote....and the more middle and upper class people that vote in comparison to the lower class...the more likely it is the Republicans candidate will prevail.

I can tell you one thing for sure, nobody will ever insert a chip into me like I'm a dog....not gonna happen.

You are very right , A chip, with in 5 years a chip will be inserted under your skin , then all they have to do is scan you .

Totally uncalled for! Every American born citizen has a national I.D. card, it's called a Social Security Card & number! Those who come here legally can also obtain one.

They think it will stop cheating during elections. Of course, they trot it out NOW....AGAIN...!!! Someone just asked what's the big deal about it...I said because they can track me now...what difference will ANOTHER SPENDING item be??

they do not want to issue nat'l id cards per se. They want something similar to a Passport, just not valid for travel, but voluntary.
