There are NO communist countries in the world, there are socialist countries run by communist party led governments. The only country that was ever communist, under the accurate definition of communism, was Cambodia between 17th April 1975 to Jan 4th 1979.
As for Free countries, how do you define "Free"?
I would say Australia is free to a very large degree, although there has been legislation recently passed through parliament that is very restrictive and undemocratic.
New Zealand, in my opinion is a free country, probably slightly freer than Australia.
Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Greenland and Norway are free countries with very few restrictions.
Britain is a free country although it has some "terrorism laws" passed recently that are very restrictive and undemocratic.
The US is, and has never been, a free country as it has always had very restrictive laws and the recent "Homeland Security" laws have taken it back to the 1950's and earlier.

There is no such thing really as a free country. You technically have freedom of speech in the US but if you really piss a more powerful entity off you may find severe repression including lawsuits, jail, etc.

Communist or not a dictator is a dictator. Pinochet wasn't communist and he was a dictator.

The fact that you come to a site like Yahoo Answers vs doing real research concerns me.
