Hey everyone,

In the last few months I've lost a bit of weight, going from 222lbs in October to 208lbs right now (at a height of 6'0"). I didn't know I lost any weight until I stepped on the scale. But the thing is, I think my gut actually has gotten fatter. It looks rounder and bouncier and my pants haven't gotten any looser. I haven't changed my diet or level or exercise...why am I losing weight with no change to my stomach (in fact, it looks like I'm gaining weight)?

Thanks for your input!

Muscle weighs more than fat.

If you have been reducing your calories, your body may have burned muscle, therefore lowering your metabolism. Then, since your metabolism is lower but your diet is the same, you gain fat.

Try lifting weights to build muscle and increase your metabolism.

maybe you should start eating healthy foods while exercising then if that doesn't work you should probably go to the Doctor and see what he thinks

It's what you're eating, more than the amount. Start noting what you're eating, and if this doesn't seem unusual, consult a dietician. It may be that you have an allergy which is causing your tummy to stay big and round while the rest of you loses weight.

From what you described you most likely lost muscle mass and not fat. You need to increase your level of exercise and do some weight lifting to increase the muscle mass. I'm 6'1" and weigh 205 and everyone thinks I'm thin.
