I understand the notion of keeping Derek Anderson, but c'mon. Brady Quinn wasn't given a 5 year, $20.2 million contract to collect splinters in his butt by sitting on the bench & holding a clipboard. Anderson can't be the starter forever. Why not sign him(Anderson) to an extension to be Quinn's backup???

The problem is that Anderson is fairly young for a qb. I'd trade Anderson to a team that needs a qb. His value now is pretty high for him now. So trade him. And get some draft picks. And start Quinn in 2008. The Browns gave up way to much to trade Quinn now. So Anderson is the odd man out. And Anderson is by far better than half the qb's in the leauge now. Look at the teams in the NFL who could use Anderson: Miami, Baltimore, Minnesota, Carolina, Atlanta, NYJ, and SF. The list goes on. I think you can get something pretty good for Anderson.

i've got not got self assurance it replaced into a lot of a attain. He replaced into very intense on their record and have been fortunate to supply up so little for him. All they did replaced into commerce next year's first around for a well-recognized around this year. they simply have been given a franchise QB a year till now. i'm a Cowboys fan, so of course i replaced into very happy that this occurs, yet then we circled and idiotically commerce our 2nd, 0.33, and 6th rounders for yet another first around %.. in spite of everything, i think of Cleveland might have a beneficial quarterback controversy with Brady Quinn, Charlie Frye, and Derek Anderson battling for the commencing interest.

Derek Anderson will be the fall of the rising Cleveland Browns. He is the most OVER-RATED QB in the NFL. His overall stats have given him the rank of the 17th best QB in the NFL. (nfl.com) Anderson was 28th in league in completion percentage, 2nd in the leugue in 19 interceptions, (that blows), and 17th in the league with a 82.5 QB rating. Behind chad pennington, jay cutler, and sage (who is this) rosenfels. Brady Quinn was ready to play pro football after his junior year in college running a pro style offense at Notre Dame under 3- time super bowl winning coach Charlie Weis. He is arguably the best QB in Notre Dame history and should be starting for the Browns. I don't think he would have blown their season in week 16. Yeah Anderson has some good features but when you have 10 sec to throw the ball and throw it 5 yards to long for your WR who makes a diving catch to give your lucky *** a 50 yard completion then you not a good QB your just a lucky one and your luck will run out and it did in week 16 against the Bengals.

Actually I'd look for a quality back-up that I could get cheaper then Quinn. Sorry but I think Quinn is overrated. Now if I can't get a quality Back-up cheaper then I keep both. I think Quinn is good enough to be a quality back-up and right now he is the only one they have. I mean clearly Ken Dorsey isn't really there to ever play QB. If anything he should retire and let them have the roster space and bring him in as a QB Coach.

they will keep quinn he looked great yester day. they will put the franchise tag on Anderson next year and get two picks for him. An why do You white people have to be racist. Qb and OL and kicker/ punter are the only position that you have excel in. Where are the white elite CB , LB, DT, FS, SS KR. But we dnt hold this against you all. There is no way u can be a football fan and be racist.

Why not sign Anderson as Quinn's backup?...Uh, because after what Anderson did for the Brown this year, he will hardly be happy signing an extension as a backup...He'll seek starter money...but they should give him a couple million for next year and go into next season with Anderson as the starter...As much as I like Quinn, you can't just ignore what Anderson has done...If he flops next year, you can trade Anderson...If he is the real deal next season, you can trade Quinn before the deadline...

Keep them both like Montana and Young. Anderson was a lucky pickup. Brady quinn is going to pay off later. Involve Anderson more now for another year then trade him later for more defensive players later.

I would probably play Anderson and bring Quinn along slowly for one more year. At the end of the year, if Anderson wasn't lights out I would offer him up as trade bait and play Quinn. If he did do well I would probably cut Quinn as he woudl not be good trade material as an unproven bench warmer. The Browns would have to eat the signing bonus but they could get out of the salary.

Anderson is a proven pro QB; you have to hang on to him. Quinn has not proven he can cut it in this league. Until Brady gets a shot to prove himself; ie and injury to Anderson, he needs to sit on the sidelines and learn as much as he can.

Because he hasn't played a game this year, he'll need to be put in to some games next year, but i don't see him being a starter in front of anderson untill mid, late next year.
