Depends what the NFL rules are on how many numbers you can wear. If it is only one it is no disrespect to Taylor. The Pats had a player die too so it is only fair they respect their own teammate as well. There are also so many other ways to respect Taylor than just wearing his number.

Marquise Hill was a member of the New England Patriots (a defensive end) who drowned in a jetski accident in the offseason. He saved the life of the young woman who was riding with him, but he wasn't able to save his own life.

The Patriots have been wearing a decal with the number "91," which was Hill's number, beginning with the first game of the season. When Sean Taylor was murdered, all of the Patriots wore his number for the following week's game, which all teams dedicated to his memory. The following week the Patriots returned to honoring Marquise Hill alone, to whom they have deicated their season. Those Patriots who are also University of Miami graduates, like Sean Taylor, are still wearing the decal with Taylor's number.

Nothing the Patriots have done has been disrespectful to the memory of Sean Taylor, who was an outstanding collegiate and professional football player, and an even better person by most acounts.

Happy New Year.

It stands for #91, DT Marquise Hill, who died in early this year in a jet-skiing accident near New Orleans.

1) It isn't true that all 31 other NFL teams are wearing 21.

2) The Patriots wear 91 for Marquise Hill, their teammate who died in a jet skiing accident shortly before the season began.
