They don't. Shy people tend to internalize everything and think people are thinking ill of them when in actuality they aren't. The truth of the matter is that most people are more concerned about what they themselves are going to say or do. That being said, if someone is soooo painfully shy that they refuse to participate in a conversation - well it isn't much fun for the person with them.

well i was once very shy my self and now I'm married to a shy girl. people don't hate em they just get uncomfortable around them couse they don't speak their minds. so conversations r usually short, one sided and to the point. shy folks just need to worm up to people. they aint shy all the time just around most people that may not vibe whit them.
