When you're showing houses do you ever think or afraid that you might get raped? or killed?
I'm just going in to the business and afraid about it, because i am good looking and i wonder if anyone else feels that way too.

My dear, I am NOT a female realtor, and the risk of robbery is just as great for a male realtor who is naive enough to show a property alone in the middle of nowhere in the evening hours.

I work with a group of associates on a team, and we always identify to others where we are going and when we should be back. Whenever anyone is uncomfortable with a particular showing, one of us will accompany the other to the showing and remain in the car while the other does their work. Do not be afraid to set up a similar arrangement with one or more other agents within your firm.

Carry pepper spray. Make sure you learn how to use it first and realize you could get yourself in trouble. Make sure you know your local laws. They say it is better to be judged by twelve than carried buy six.

I have always suggested for my new agents to meet their clients at the office first. This way you get a feel of whether you want to work with the client, have a few people around you in a safe and secure environment and when working on a team, another team member is present. That way if you get any negative feelings about the buyers you can say that you are not available (something has come up) but that you will have a team member show the property and talk with them when they come back to the office. Take the other team member aside when they come back and see if the way you felt was correct. Being a new agent there are alot of concerns about working with different buyers but if you take precautions when you speak with them on the phone or at your first meeting (at the office) you will have had time to relax, handle your fears and the situation professionally.

Congratulations and Welcome.....

Let me see. In the Northeast here "we" have to show our drivers lic. & approvel letter to buy. To rent we have to show a photo I.D. & have our credit run before we go look at something. So if I was going to "soil" you : How am I going to get away with it in these days of DNA testing?Kill everyone & sack the office? Much easier "prey" out there.

When I worked in real estate, I always let someone know where I was . . . that's your best defense. Also try to hook up with another realtor, if a client gives you the heebie jeebies only show houses when the other realtor can go with you. Good luck.
