I heard its bad luck to do before then.

I take mine down around New Year's day too.

By about the second or third week of January. Actually, Christmas runs to January 6, which is called Epiphany. It's supposedly when the Magi finally showed up. Long trip from Persia to Bethlehem. Good thing the innkeeper let Joseph rent the barn at a cut rate for an extra 2 weeks. Otherwise, no gold, frankinscense and myrhh. Actually, the frankinscense and myrhh... not so much. I mean they're valuable perfumes and balms respectively, but c'mon...gold, is GOLD, baby! And no, leaving the tree up past New Years isn't bad luck.

Jan 2nd,Don't do anything on new years day that pertains to work if you can help from it.

Mine are already down and packed away but New Year's Day is traditionally the day most people take them down....because they're off from work..... not because it's "bad luck" to do it before then....

well I am screwed this year, cuz I took them down yesterday, usually I leave them up until the last weekend in January
