Okay ive played soccer all my life and I want to try cheerleading. I want to be a top but I'm not that flexible so are there any good streches and stuff i could do. Also I can do like a perfect cartwheele but I kno Ill need to do more tumbling to be able to make a team, so any suggestions for me to be able to tumble better. Oh and also what do you have to do at a cheerleading tryout?? I know that i cant really do any thing for cheerleading but Im willing to do what ever I have to to make the team. Oh and tryouts r in september so I have lots of time.

1) There are stretching and other cheerleading training tips here:
http://geocities.com/aescougarcheer/basics.htm

2) Get into a tumbling class right away.

3) For tryouts, wear school colors at the clinics and the tryout. Smile, smile, smile! Don't stop if you make a mistake, but instead just pick up where you left off and keep on going like nothing happened. Have great enthusiasm and a positive attitude, and try everything that is asked of you.

You will probably have to:
Learn a dance and cheer
Make up a dance and cheer (maybe)
Demonstrate your jumping and tumbling ability
Give an interview (maybe)

Good luck!

Hey
i tried out for my schools cheerleading team last year and got in!
but when i heard about the tryouts 3 months before i was in your situation
Yoga really did help! i wasnt atall flexible but now i am :]
also they look for just as many dance skills as gymnast skills when your trying out...so any school dance/gym clubs or classes you can attend take the oppurtunity

i had to judge for who got onto the team this year and the things judges look for are
a routine instead of movements in no particular order make them flow cause this makes you look alot more presentable
basically just give it 110% and do your very best
you have along time to prepare so im sure you'll do fine!
hope this helped
and
happy new year :D

well since tryouts are in september you have plenty of time.
so stretch daily, you could do lunges to work on flexiblility.

You could also try a summer gymnastics program to work on your tumbling and flexibility.

but when you are trying out make sure you are loud, confident, and stiff.

get the routine and cheers down, and try your best.

good luck :]

Okay, to be a flyer you have to be thin and not too tall. Also you won't necessarily need to no any kind of flips. Normally at a cheerleading tryout you have to perform a cheer. You are gonna need to no a few basic moves. Like High V, Low V, Candlesticks, Daggers, T, Touchdown,Ect.

To know more about the moves and all that make yourself my fan and I will give u my email so I can give you more info.

I cant answer that, because I never wanted to date a cheerleader. Thanks for the opportunity for the 2 points though. Take care!
