i think many of them can turn things around quickly, are the only ones to blame for getting so deep into problems, make the choice of how they feel and how they let things effect them, and ultimately are the only ones that have control over themselves.

I think they make bad choices that lead to their destruction and sometimes the destruction of others. It's very sad. Happy New Year. 2D

i don't understand why some people need to block out reality to such an extent. I am so thankful that I have never got into such a mess

Ultimately, it is their own choice. Plenty of people grow up in bad childhoods, and succeed in life, while plenty of people who grew up with all the advantages in the world destroy their lives. Most probably destroy their lives out of selfishness.

There are times, probably in everyone's life, but in some peoples lives in particular, where very bad things happen. Sometimes bad things happen to people beyond their control, sometimes because they do stupid things, or sometimes because they do things that they know that they shouldn't do, but take the risk anyway. Sometimes the consequences do not match the deed, and small stupid mistakes turn out to be extremely costly, or a small risk, trespass, or bad deed winds up being very costly, and it is tragic, considering that most of us commit such small acts ourselves on a regular basis, whether or not we are willing to admit this, being that no one is perfect.

In the end, either we let the bad things that happen in our lives control us, or we learn to overcome the tragedies that life sometimes deals to us.

I think Nietzsche had it right, "That which does not kill us makes us stronger."

I have no sympathy for them. They are weak willed people who blame the world for everything.

Well I don't think of "them" in general terms. I mean that's a bit of a throw-away question is it not? It's like asking "What do you think of people who drink more than three times a week?" They could be sad, desperate and lonely people who need a big hug, or they could just be regular folk who like to be sociable, or they could be pathetic losers who choose to p*** their lives away.

You can't just make assumptions based on entire demographics!

They don't deserve all the blame, just as successful people do not deserve all the credit.

They are self-defeating, and need counceling to help them straighten up. I also think it's not 100% their fault. Those people are usually in to drugs. There are people who are educated and have done very bad things, and I don't mean drugs, they have committed murder, or have molested a child, or they have stolen from a company/public/friend etc. Then I DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR THEM. I have HATRED for them instead.
