now when any real Christian tries to run for office the liberals have ingeniously twisted separation of church and state into separation of church FROM state. They have no problem with people running who claim to be Christian but dont follow it, or someone who will denie their belief, because they ignorantly think the person will be more Liberal. Don't they realize the person could just as likely be a fascist? I am an agnostic and dont believe in religion. I would rather someone in office who admits their beliefs. Besides there bigotry is very disturbing. You cant run for office because you're a christian. What next can't vote either?

Any group that's up to no good is going to keep its activities a secret. Not saying those groups are necessarily, but if they are, they will act covertly. Liberals do the demonizing thing too. The working class loves an easily classified bad guy, regardless if the classification is fair.

This is whining, and I'm a bit surprised someone not religious is defending such a thing.

What exactly do you define as a "real Christian"? The Religious Right has claimed to be "real Christians" for 25 years, yet when the rubber meets the road, they turn directly away from what the word of God says.

"They have no problem with people running who claim to be Christian but don't follow it..."

To me, you've just described a Religious Conservative.

Christians ought to expect that the world will not understand what they're doing. Jesus said "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33).

Basically, what we're talking about is political Christianity versus real Christianity. During the Republican debate, one of the youtube questions was "Do you believe every word of this book (holding up a Bible)?"

I'm a Christian, and I believe the Bible. But there is SO MUCH variance in what the different denominations of Christianity believe that it **scares me** to have one particular denomination or another in control. Conservatives are building their middle east policy around one **narrow interpretation** of end times prophecy scripture. If it doesn't work out exactly the way they say, then things will end up a complete disaster.

Personally, I'd like to see the campaign for office not resemble a campaign for Pastor-In-Chief. Whether the candidate is Christian, Buddhist, Mormon, or whatever is of no consequence to me, and it should not matter to voters at ALL.

Meaning--we don't ask, we don't pry, we *accept* the candidates' faith or lack thereof without question.

I don't care about Huckabee supposedly being Christian. I care that he's a typical neocon who will give us more of the same. And he's supposed to be a Baptist minister, but he's executed a record number of people while he was governor. And considering the fact that our justice system is very flawed and that too many innocent people have been placed on death row, I think that this is unconscionable and very telling of what kind of person Huckabee is.

You can follow your religion just like anybody else but when you make your religious beliefs laws that I have to follow then you are wrong. That is why there is a separation of church and state very clear in the constitution.

No where in the Constitution says this country will follow Christian belief and everyone will be converted. Nor it says that of any other religion.

Yes it is amazing. I've never seen a group who pretends to be tolerant wanted all rights taken away from those who do not think like they do. We saw this same behavior in Nazi Germany towards the Jews.
