Japan attacked the US naval base at Pearl Harbor.
Two days later Germany declared war on the USA.
Only two reasons; there wasn't another one

You did not say what war, but since you said Axis Powers, that is the usual term for WWI.
3 reasons the US entered the war was the Germans restarted their unrestricted U-boat attacks in an attempt to starve Great Britain, and sand the US ship the SS Housatonic.
Around the same time, Great Britain reveled to the US they had intercepted a message from Germany to Mexico, asking Mexico to enter the war against the US and Germany would assist them and make sure Mexico regained Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
Also by that point Great Britain and France were so deeply in dept to American Banks and American munition factories, the US government was in fear that if Germany won, France and England would forfeit the dept, and put the US economy in jepordy.
