I was wondering if the ban will deter you from going out to bars. Some of my friends say they will not go out as much.

I work in a Bar and prior to the ban - most of the regular customers were smokers, of which, more than half of them has stopping coming to the bar.
People just want to aim at something rather easy that they can pin their result.
Look at the big picture.... the Ozone layer which is being destroyed every single day by so many different things we use in our daily life.

Nevertheless, the business do hurt for not be able to have any smoker - it does not add more crowd. People who wanted to go to the bar before prior to the ban will still go - imposing a ban will not bring out more non-smokers.

Everyone has different opinions on this subject and I definitely do not want to sit here and babble away. I just wanted to share one of so many view I think pertaining to this ban.

I won't. I live in an area that had one before so I'm used to not giving out my business. I feel bad for the thousands of people who will lose jobs :(. They banned it in an area few miles down the road and here over 50% of the bars and restaurants closed.

The smoking ban has been here in Ireland nearly 2 years now - i think!! (dont quote me on that!!) Its way better! ... your friends will still go out, pubs, clubs and bars build on great smoking areas! most people spend most of the night in the smoking areas then!

Nope, I think the ban is great. I can finally come home from a night out and not smell like an ash tray.

Even if your friends stay home, the bars should still be crowded because all of those people who say the DIDN'T go to bars because of the smoke will now flood the bars, right? I mean, unless they were all liars and still won't go to the bars but just wanted to impose their will on others.

So c'mon all you people who said you don't go to bars because of all the smoke... I expect to see all of you flooding the bars now.

I am in the middle. I am a social smoker(I still don't think that's good). However I only smoke when I drink. I can still have fun without the smoking, but once in a while I do need a smoke. I guess it depends on how serious I want to party.

I think that smoking ban is the stupidest thing and it is for the whole state now.
I don't smoke and if a place has smoke, I just don't go there if I don't want to smell it.
The decision to have smoking or not in an establishment should be totally up to the owner.
It is just another way for communism to work it's way into our society. Don't those government big wigs get that?
Stop makeing all the dumb rules.
Pretty soon they will be telling us how many times a day we can do #2!
