If you're referring to the Allied victory in World War I there was no lasting peace. That war was really the fault of several nations. The Versailles Treaty blamed the entire war on the Central Powers. Because of that and the horrible economic conditions especially in Germany, the Nazis were able to feed on the discontent and come to power. The old League of Nations was inept. This led to World War II in Europe. The Allied victory in World War II led to a more lasting peace because of the formation of the United Nations, the stalemate between the United States and the western democracies on one side and the Soviet Union and eastern Communist states in Europe on the other, and most of all because of the fear that another world war would probably involve nuclear weapons. This would probably lead to the end of civilization.

I guess you have never read a history book or a newspaper. We have not had any peace since the US decided to become a world power. (not to imply there was much peace before, but at least the US was not overthrowing governments for 'democracy' every couple of years before WWII)
