Okay so people don't seem to appreciate the names I have chosen for their babies. I work really hard on this and I feel that my names are really lovely and unique, they are the next frontier. I was just wondering what you guys thought of my names. So here they are:
LaPoe
Snark
Pennace
Pat
Patsy
Liberty
Jenavere
Coral
Charcoal
Thinsil
RuFus
Addison Raddison
Fredward
Fonisha
Danquisha
Phooskie
Woodrow
Lyra
Ruthy
Bobey
Puca

I am finally expecting and I am so pleased that I am in control of my own baby's name.

*thank you for being of help to me*

I think Lyra is the only acceptable name in that list. I think it is safer to use more commonly accepted names, or to slightly modify them, rather than changing their spelling. If only to spare the child from bullying, I wouldn't give them a name such as Phooskie or Danquisha.

Whoa, some of these names... I don't want to be rude, but would you be a happy camper if your name were Snark?!

I think a good way to see if your name is going to be suitable & most importantly, not embarress or hinder your child in any way, is how does it sound with 'The honourable Justice....' or 'Doctor...' in front of it? Sure not everyone wants that sort of career for their children, but what if they do... are they going to be taken seriously? What are you telling them about themselves, and their background, by giving them this name?

Just some things to consider. Ultimately the choice is up to you, but remember, it isn't your name, it's your child's.

What I think:
LaPoe - sounds like a teletubby.

Snark - Have you heard of 'The hunting of the Snark'? Not great connotations, & unpleasant sounding on it's own anyway.

Pennace - I like the sound of it, for a girl, but again it has bad connotations, can you imagine the teasing... like "...I've been bad so I have to 'do' Pennance"?! Yuck.

Pat - Like postman Pat? Pretty dull.

Patsy - It's okay but not great.

Liberty - I like this one. Can be shortened to Lib or Libby too which is nice.

Jenavere - A bit weird but okay, what's wrong with Genevive or Gwenavere... why do you have to go all Jayden Spears?

Coral - Nice classic name.

Charcoal - No, no, no! Cole - yes. Charcoal... please do not do that to a child.

Thinsil - As in the kid is too thin or perhaps made of tinsel? Please think about this!

RuFus - Weird spelling of a DOG'S name.

Addison Raddison - Addison is fine, I actually even like it, but not Raddison, and definately not together as I think you intend it.

Fredward - What?

Fonisha - Not a fan of the 'isha's at all, sounds trashy.

Danquisha - As above.

Phooskie - Great name for a stuffed animal, less so for a human being.

Woodrow - Sounds a bit hillbilly but not as bad as some.

Lyra - As long as she doesn't travel alot this would be okay. ;)

Ruthy - Doesn't age well IMO, but is alright.

Bobey - Too muck like 'Boobey'!!

Puca - Err... no.

Sorry if you think I've been too harsh, but you did ask!! I really hope you take on board the opinions of friends & family when you make the final decision & don't call your baby Snark Charcoal just to spite them... Good luck on finding a suitable name.

some of them are pretty. Think of which ones might be mangled and changed into taunts at school, that can ruin a childs self esteem and affect their life.
Also which ones don't sound as good if announced, since who knows what career they'll end up in.
A name that you can tell the child you put thought and love into, and that they like, is a beautiful thing.
Good luck
