Are you attacking someone, or is this shot in defense? If you are taking the shot in a defensive position then you would be right there, but if you are attacking someone just to attack them, to start something, then that is wrong. I'm sure there are gray areas that make this a very hard question, and its good you are concerned about the moral grounds. Ultimately, if someone came in my home, and attacked me, I would certainly defend myself, and if that is what you are doing when taking the shot, then you are correct. The only problem I can see there is, who is making this decision? If you think they are correct in what they ask of you, then I guess you can take the shot. But if you question their motives, then I wouldn't suggest that you become a puppet for the purpose of murder. So it just comes down to the motives behind the shot, and if you are defending people by killing this man, then he has come into your house and pointed a gun at your head so to speak, and so you must do what you can to protect your family. I may change my opinion on that in the future, but right now that seems to be correct. Also I would add that its not you the defender that is taking the father from the family. If someone broke into your house and you shot them, its not your fought they placed themselves in that situation, so the blame would go to the attacker for risking his life to kill others. He basically killed himself, and so he is the reason they no longer have their father.
